I’m so excited that Story Quest Books is now a proud sponsor of the Multicultural Children’s Book Day (MCCBD) Event – January 27, 2016.
About Multicultural Children’s Book Day (MCCBD)
“Our mission is to not only raise awareness for the kid’s books that celebrate diversity, but to get more of these of books into classrooms and libraries.”
To fulfill this mission, bloggers Jump into a Book and Pragmatic Mom launched the first Multicultural Children’s Book Day – January 27, 2014. By all accounts, it was a huge success for authors, publishers, parents, teachers, bloggers and librarians, and it paved the way for the second annual MCCBD – January 27, 2015. This year’s event added more features, such as a classroom reading challenge where teachers and readers earned FREE diversity books for classroom libraries. Online, the MCCBD reached 26 million social media shares.
MCCBD 2016 and Story Quest Books
I learned about MCCBD while finishing my new children’s book, I Want Cake! Timing couldn’t be more perfect. MCCBD has done an amazing job raising awareness about the lack of diversity in children’s books and making the MCCBD a terrific, fun and positive opportunity for addressing the gap.
It’s an honor to become a sponsor for the MCCBD 2016 event. I’ll be posting lots of updates and news here. Stay tuned!
